LQMA 2011 RACE FORMAT
Any disputes regarding, Racing, Starting or Placing and Points will be decided by a Decision Committee formed by the Race Director, Tech Director and President
Rules and Regulations:
1. With the exception of the rules established within this document the rules of the current QMA rule book shall be used. If no rule covers a situation then the Race Director, Tech Director and President will form a decision committee and be empowered to decide the outcome.
2. The National code of conduct will be adhered to at all times
3. All release forms must be signed before anyone can go out onto the track
4. No starting engines before 8:00am or after 11:00pm, with the exception of special events
5. Any member consuming alcohol in public or under the influence before all racing has concluded for the day will be removed from the premises for the remainder of the day
6. For everyone’s safety there is no bicycle riding, roller blades, skateboards, scooters or RC cars inside the fenced area during any race event. Helmets must be worn at all times. You will receive one warning, if you continue to ride without a helmet your item will be confiscated till the end of the day.
7. No race shall start without the presence of 4 corner workers wearing safety vests and 6 fire extinguishers (1 in each corner and 2 in the infield). For Novice races 2 corner workers are required in each corner. For all other classes, one per corner. The race director will have discretion to Red Flag the race in any of their absences.
8. No smoking is allowed inside the inner fenced compound
9. All dogs must be kept on a leash and their mess picked up and disposed of
10. Children are not to play in the area around the tenants’ building
11. No climbing or debarking the trees
12. Children under the age of 16 are not allowed to drive any motorized vehicle ie: golf cart, quads, motorbike, car, truck etc (with the exception of their race car(s)) on LQMA property.
13. Non compliance of the above rules will be subject to a non compliant fee of $50 after 3 warnings to child and parent.
Safety and Sign Ins:
8:00am - 9:00am (any cars signed in after 9:00am will be considered a late sign in) 9:15am Pit Meeting 9:30am Racing Commences
Safety and Sign Ins for Night Races will be posted to the membership prior to the event.
Fees:

$20 per car $15 per car
$5 transponder rental $5 transponder rental
2011 Point Series Information:
Points Series will be comprised of 7 (seven) races
- Track Fuel - All cars racing in the series will use mid-grade unleaded fuel from the Chevron station at 264th Ave and Fraser Highway. It is strongly recommended that the fuel be obtained on the same day as the race is held to avoid any fuel testing discrepancies.
- Races will have heats and mains and some races will be qualifying as decided when the race schedule is made before the season begins.
- After the first points race, line ups for the remaining races will be determined by the finish of the previous race A Main, if rained out results of the previous heat race will determine starting positions for the next race
- Spec Tire Rule –All races will run the QMA Spec Tire Rule of the Vega MBM.
Year End Awards:
1. In each division Year End Awards will be presented to the top three (3) finishers
2. Ties will be decided by: 1st - most A Main wins or if necessary 2nd - most wins in division (cumulative of heats and mains)
3. Trophies 1st Place - Jacket and Trophy (only one jacket per driver, if driver wins multiple classes each class will be listed on single jacket)
2nd Place - Trophy 3rd Place – Trophy 4th Place – Trophy (Jr Honda only)
4. Novices - all drivers will be recognized at the Year End Banquet
5. There must be three (3) qualifying cars in a division for four (4) or more races for that division to be eligible for year end awards
6. If there are not three cars in any one class then that class can be combined with the corresponding class (ie. Lt 160 and Hvy 160). All cars would then run at the “Heavy” class total car/driver weight.
Qualifying Race Format for Points Series:
- Qualifying Order will be determined by pill draw
- Qualifying will be five (5) warm up laps plus three (3) “on the clock” with the option of the handler asking to go “on the clock” before the 5 warm up laps are complete.
- Mains will be fully inverted from qualifying.
- If multiple mains are required the cars transferring in will be placed in positions four (4) through 1 (one) on the grid with the winner of the lower main being placed in position four (4) , 2nd place finisher in position three (3), and so forth.
- No Times will start at the back of the lowest Main
- Late Sign Ins will start at the beginning of their class, if the class has already started qualifying they will start at the back of the lowest main and a $10 late sign in fee will be charged per family.
Point Series Regular Format:
1. Heat line-ups will be created from the results of the previous A Main race
2. Heats will be created from the previous A Main race with DNF‘s, DNS‘s, DNA's and DQ’s at the back of the field
3. First place heat finishers will start at the back of the A Main
4. Second Place finisher will be next or if multiple heats required start at the back of the second heat race
5. The winner of the first heat race will be placed in the last position in the A Main
6. If required, the winner of the second heat race will be given the next highest position in the A Main
7. If multiple mains are required the cars transferring in will be placed in positions four (4) through 1 (one) on the grid with the winner of the lower main being placed in position four (4) , 2nd place finisher in position three (3), and so forth.
8. Heats to have a 15 minute time limit excluding red flags
9. Mains to have a 20 minute time limit excluding red flags
10. All races (excluding qualifying) will have a two (2) minute warm-up unless Race Director determines otherwise
11. Late Sign Ins will start at the back of their first race ie: heats as long as it doesn’t recreate another race and a $10 late sign in fee will be charged per family.
General Information:
- Disqualifications (DQ’s) will be of two types: 1) minor DQ that will not be Reported to the Region and 2) major DQ that will be reported to the Region and is likely to result in suspension per the Region Director’s discretion and QMA rule book. Penalties for infractions will be determined by the pertinent section of the race format. A major DQ can be assessed either when a car has not gone to impound, cannot be tech’d for whatever reason or has a flagrant technical infraction identified during inspection. This rule is intended to differentiate between a tech DQ due to worn parts and another DQ due to modifications intended to improve performance. This determination will be made solely by the Decision Committee at that time.
- Nine (9) car Jr. and eleven (11) car Sr. Fields will be allowed as per QMA Rule Book
- Move-ups will be placed at the back of the field with actual position earned number prior to the green flag being displayed for their first race
- DNF’s and DQ’s will start at the back of the Heats and Mains with the DNF starting ahead of the DQ
- DNA’s will start behind any DNF’s and DQ’s at the back of the Heats and Mains
- Cars not eligible for points (non-LQMA members) will start at the rear of the Heats
- Black Flags during the race day will be scored as minor DQ and receive points according to where they fell out of the race
- Black Flag Exception: if black flag is given for a flagrant call no points will be awarded
- In warm up, any car disregarding the instructions of the flagger may be placed at the back of the pack at the discretion of the flagger.
Rain Outs:
- There will be no races rescheduled due to rain
- First race of Points Series will be a qualifying event, if rained out; qualifying will take place on the next scheduled Point Series Race
- All classes must finish qualifying for event to not be classified a rain out
- If all divisions qualify but only some divisions finish Lower and A Mains these divisions will be classified as complete and receive points as per the Points Structure. Remaining divisions not fully complete will be awarded qualifying points. Next Point Series Race will then start with Heats based on Qualifying Results of incomplete divisions and results of A Mains for completed divisions.
- Rainouts will be called by the Race Director by noon (12:00pm) on race day
- Fees paid are non-refundable
- Once rain out has been called all drivers signed in prior to 9:00am will receive 20 points for each class registered for that event.
Drivers:
- A driver turning nine (9) during the race season may move to the Sr. Division at the start of the season. If that option is not used, the driver cannot take points from the Jr. Division to the Sr. Division.
- A driver running in the Heavy Division will have to weigh in front of the Designated Scale Person and one (1) member in the same class. Driver to be weighed in normal street attire without shoes, driving suits, helmets, gloves and any type of safety equipment.
Work Rule:
- No working on cars on the racing surface - automatic minor DQ and no points will be awarded (unless deemed a safety issue by the Raced Director)
- Two (2) handlers per car in the pit area, maximum four (4) handlers working on car in pit area
Scales and Sealing:
- All cars from every race must cross scales
- Minimum Car and Driver and Combined Weights must be met at all times
- Heavy Divisions, Car and Driver must be weighed separately as well as combined
- All cars must be sealed after qualifying or heat races.
- All cars must be checked per QMA rules - ie: tire width, nerf bars, etc.
Tech:
- A motor change or breaking a seal must be reported to the “Tech Director” prior to the changes being made. As per QMA, failing to do so will be a DQ
- Cars having changed the motor or broken a seal will go to the back of the race they slotted into with the original line-up number on the car
- If the changes are not reported to the Tech Director all points will be forfeited for that race in which the infraction takes place.
- Top four (4) finishers in each A Main in Senior Races and top five (5) in Jr. Races will be impounded for Technical procedures. Cars must report to impound immediately after the race. The same cars must remain in impound until they are released by the Tech Director. Failure to immediately impound, remain in impound or allow your car to be technically inspected will result in a major DQ.
- Novices at every event must run QMA restricted plate, any removal or alteration will be cause for suspension.
Judging:
- Judges are required to be on the judging stand prior to cars being pushed off for a race event, including warm up period.
- If you are unable to judge a race you must find a replacement.
- There must be a minimum of one (1) judge on the stand for the warm up period to begin
- All judges must be present prior to start of the race, if the judges are not present a red flag will be called for by the Race Director and the race will not begin until all judges are present
- Judging procedure will follow QMA rulebook guidelines.
Corner Workers:
- All corner workers will be in their respective corners, coinciding with the numbers on the racecars prior to the start of the race
- If corner workers are not present it is the discretion of the Race Director to red flag the race until corner workers are present
Point Structure:
1. Driver will only receive points for the Highest Main run
2. Any points earned by drivers not eligible for points (non-LQMA Members) will be lost points
3. Zero points will be awarded for the following: A) Motor found illegal B) Motor changed without notification C) Car / Driver or combination of Car and Driver found light D) Car was pushed out but unable to complete a qualifying lap
4. Dropping fluids or safety gear violations will be called a minor DQ and the car will receive points in the position where they fell out of the race. Should a safety item (ie. Seat belt or neck brace need to be properly affixed as it is partially coming off) the car must be removed from the race surface to make such an adjustment.
5. DNF’s and minor DQ’s will receive points in the order they fall out of the race, except where a specific rule states otherwise.
6. DNS’s and DNA’s will receive zero (0) points.
7. Three (3) chargeable yellows is a minor DQ and will receive points where they fall out of the race.
8. Black Flag calls for driving infractions will be considered a minor DQ and receive points where they fall out of the race unless the infraction was flagrant; in that case they will receive zero points.
9. A driver who moves from Lt. to Hvy. During the season will be subject to the following: A) Driver will receive one point less than the lowest driver with the same amount of races B) Driver will lose one extra point for each driver competing in the class they are leaving
10. Novices moving up will receive one point less than the lowest driver in new division with the same amount of races
Novice Division:
No points awarded Attendance tracked for move up purposes
Qualifying:
Cars which qualify will receive points Cars which receive a “No Time” will receive no points
1st - 50 points, 2nd - 49 points, 3rd - 48 points, 4th - 47 points, 5th - 46 points, and so on
Heats:
One (1) point spread per position
1st - 50 points, 2nd - 49 points, 3rd - 48 points, 4th - 47 points, 5th - 46 points, and so on
Mains
Two (2) point spread per position
A Main 1st - 150 points, 2nd - 148 points, 3rd - 146 points, 4th - 144 points, 5th - 142 points, etc.
B Main 5th - 130 points, 6th - 128 points, 7th - 126 points, 8th - 124 points, 9th - 122 points, 10th - 120 points Jr Division starts 5th - 134 points
C Main 5th - 118 points, 6th - 116 points, 7th - 114 points, 8th - 112 points, 9th - 110 points, 10th - 108 points Jr Division starts 5th - 126 points
